Session Investment

I offer a range of session types. Location and Studio. Depending on whether you want a full custom private session at a location of your choice to tell your pet's story, a mini-session to get an updated wall portrait or a fun, themed photo for your holiday card - you are sure to find something that suits your needs and budget. Sessions can include multiple subjects. The private session fee now includes a select number of digital files but prints, products or more digital files must be purchased after the session. I do not require minimum purchase, most private session clients invest between $600 and $2000 on albums or wall art for their home. Not sure what is best for you? Please contact me. I'm happy to provide more information so you can book with confidence!

SESSION FAQ

I want to do a session but I'm not sure where

A.I'm happy to help figure out what works best. I suggest browsing my portfolios to see if you are drawn to a particular type of location (like the beach, manicured park or natural open space) or if the classic simplicity of a studio session. One of the steps in the booking link is a questionnaire that collects information so I can better help. I also offer a guide with some of my favorite Bay Area locations. I'm here to help each step of the way.

I'm worried my pet won't cooperate, is that a problem??

A.No problem! Whether your pet is hyper or shy, we'll work in a way that makes them comfortable and yields beautiful images! In fact, many of my portfolio images that look calm were actually in the midst of zoomies, and some had to be reassured to feel comfortable. With all the different personalities and energy levels, there really is not one trick that works for everyone. One of my favorite parts of doing pet photography is that each session is a unique journey. I love the process of discovery and getting to know your pet's personality.

I have multiple pets. Can I have them in a photo together?

A.Yes, of course! As long as they're okay with being together. I do suggest giving thought to your priority goals. Ideally in a multi-pet session I'll try to get photos together and individually, posed and candid. But it helps to know your goal so I know best how to use our session time.

What is included with the session?

A.Most sessions include one or more digital files. For private sessions the digitals can be traded for a spending credit towards your order. All printed items include the matching digital files.

Where does the session take place?

A.I am based out of Sacramento and serve the greater Bay Area and Sacramento . Sessions can be at beaches, manicured parks, natural open spaces, urban areas and homes. There is a minimal travel fee from Sacramento to the session location. We are fortunate to have so many amazingly beautiful options and I'm happy to make suggestions based on your preferences. I also offer a location inspiration guide.

How long does a session last?

A.Private sessions typically take an hour for one pet, but are not timed. I'll usually block a two hour time and we'll go with the flow, get a variety of shots until we feel the session is complete.

Mini-sessions are limited to twenty minute appointments. Nanos, Pop-Ups and pet Photo Booth events are ten minute sittings.

What if the weather is bad?

A.I'll begin checking the weather forecast about a week before our session and will be in touch if it looks like the weather will affect our plans. I'm flexible about rescheduling session dates.

Does my dog need to be well-trained? My dog can't go off leash, is that a problem?

A.No, your dog does not need to be well trained and it is possible to stay on leash for the session. However, I encourage bringing high value treats and toys so that if you feel comfortable, we can unclip the leash for a few fun candids. I will always trust your instincts and safety always comes first but dogs often do better than owners expect.

Do you photograph people with their pets??

A.Absolutely! Usually a session focuses on your pet but you are welcome to jump in for a few shots and if your priority goal is to get shots of you together or the full family, that will be how we focus our session time.

How far in advance do I need to book my session?

A.Session appointments are available Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. There will always be more flexibility during the week and it will depend on the season (Fall books fast). In general, Saturdays will be about a month out and weekdays will be about two weeks out. Exceptions will be made for time sensitive sessions.

My pet just received a bad diagnosis and doesn't have much time left. Can you fit us in?

A.Every effort will be made to get your session done as soon as possible! It is a heartbreaking fact that our pets don't live forever and sometimes a photography session is not a priority until time is defined. It is my own loss of a soul-mate cat that brought me to my calling of being pet photographer, so I understand how important these sessions are.
